Brakes includes sometime members of British Sea Power and The Electric Soft Parade, but they're very much their own band, creating punked-up songs that swing between ferocity and sweetness. They've toured the world and recorded in Nashville with music legends, but headed for Scotland to lay down their fantastic third album 'Touchdown'. It sees them on classic form, combining weird lyrics, slamming guitars and an uncompromising attitude – they even changed labels from Rough Trade to Fat Cat to make sure they could record the album they wanted. Always unafraid to make some serious noise, they rocked the Camden Crawl earlier this year.
'It may have been three years in the pipeline but this is a triumphant return for a band that started off as a mere side project and have undeniably metamorphosed into the main attraction' — Clickmusic
'From the sound of the Thrills to the manic rush of an adrenalised Ramones, Brakes leave you wanting more' — BBC
