Artist Profile

Givers from Lafayette, Louisiana are a five piece band that are riding the crest of a post-punk tidal wave that's sweeping across America, filling homes with records by The Drums and Vampire Weekend, as well as calypso rhythms and Johnny Marr guitar melodies. Handily, this description also sums up the Givers's style of shy-rock, which seems to be going through the same world-music infatuation that Paul Simon's did in the 1980’s (but with more hair). This year has heralded the birth of their acclaimed debut album, 'In Light', following on from their raves reviews at SXSW in 2010, and if you want to find out if the Givers give more than they... take, then you’d better hurry along to Summer Sundae Festival in Leicester.
