British folk music has a reputation for attracting washed-up hippies and ale enthusiasts, but Kurran and Wolfnotes are here to buck that trend. Formed in the underground by a group of international musicians hailing from France, Northern Ireland and Peru, their tunes have always paid more dues to the likes of Iron and Wine and pop-punkers Brand New, than it has Cat Stevens. Last year was a busy one for them too, with their debut track ‘Whatabitch’ propelling them out of the shade of successful fellow folk-pals, Mumford and Suns, and into summer sun slots at this season’s Latitude Festival in Suffolk.
