Alt-indie pair, Slow Club’s Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson formed one barmy day in Sheffield, 2006, and made a pact to give Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra a run for their money. And, embracing, the rough and tumble of country, through to tender acoustic, bluesy/boozy duets shot through with wry humour, they’ve done quite a good job of it too. Last year saw the birth of their first child, Yeah So, which gave us more of their strange habit for using “found” objects (chairs, bottles) as instruments, as well as an upping in the twee stakes with buckets of sweet choruses, handclaps, and the odd rinky-dink skiffle guitar. Make no mistake, you just can't counterfeit this sort of joyful synergy.
