Bestival, Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight, 8th-11th September 2011
Curated, as ever by, Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, last summer was the season that Mumford and Sons, Rox, The xx and New Young Pony Club all came of age at Bestival (which won ‘Best Major Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards 2010), while headliners Roxy Music, Hot Chip and The Flaming Lips rang out the message that, yeah, the festival period was over. Still, that was months ago and now the organisers are busy making sure that next summer’s gig is just as good. Breaking news tell us that The Cure, Primal Scream, Brian Wilson, Magnetic Man and Grand Master Flash have all confirmed, but there’s bound to be loads more, so keep your eyes peeled.
Inside Tip: Following her selection as NME’s coolest musician of 2010, as well as her storming set at sister show, Camp Bestival, the odds are looking very good of seeing Laura Marling pretty high on 2011’s bill, too.
