V Festival, Chelmsford and Staffordshire, 20th-21st August, 2011
A little known fact about V Festival, is that it was started in 1996 because Pulp’s frontman, Jarvis Cocker, wanted to play two festivals (one up north, one down south) in two consecutive days. And to think, all this came about after he narrowly avoided prison for winding up Michael Jackson at the Brit Awards earlier the same year! 2010’s roster included Florence and the Machine, Editors, White Lies, Kings of Leon Kasabian, Groove Armada, Paul Weller and Stereophonics. So if that sounds appealing, then get in early.
Insider Tip: No line up announced yet, but with festival founders Pulp officially reforming for the circuit this year, it wouldn’t take a lot of imagination to see them closing the show in 2011.
